Flores Statement on Export-Import Bank's Expired Authorization

Press Release

Date: July 1, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Bill Flores (R-Texas) released the following statement on the expiration of the Export-Import Bank's authorization:

"Congress is right to let the authorization for the Export-Import Bank expire. The Bank has become the "Enron' of the federal government, a poster child for the worst of Washington's corruption and mismanagement. American businesses are strong enough to compete on their own, without interference from unaccountable federal bureaucrats looking to line their own pockets. I urge my fellow conservatives in Congress to join me in making sure the Bank begins an orderly wind down beginning today."

Earlier this year, the Republican Study Committee took a position against reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank, citing the need for a competitive free market and the Bank's unchanged culture of corruption.
